Thankful Thursday

It is Thankful Thursday and to tell you the truth I wasn't even going to write a Thankful Thursday post. Then I realized I should be thankful even though all week so far has been chaotic. Being thankful keeps me sane. Oh those wonderful turmoils! I was having coffee today with my Dad and we were talking about everything going on in the world. He seemed so frustrated. There are lots of crazy stuff going on in the world right now and lately it feels more and more like these chaotic times we are living in are only to get crazier. I am focusing on the positive. It is so important to keep our faith, salvation, and our eyes on God. I am thankful for my Salvation period! If you don't know Jesus as your savior it is so important! Don't wait until it is too late.
When it comes to everyday things....our house, a bed and I'm glad I'm not hungry when I sleep at night. The car, My poor car...... How are we supposed to say thank you when our car breaks down? Being thankful for the aid that was available. My fathers helping hand and rescuing me when I was stranded in 98 degree heat! I am not sure how much this will cost DH and I to fix the car but, with short on funds, I am grateful for DH's knowledge and skills. Perhaps I should be grateful for this car as if it wasn't for DH's boss's we wouldn't of even had this car. It was a gift.
Go home, hug your kids, kiss your spouse and be thankful. After all think about how much worse life could be and how much worse it is for others. What are you thankful for today?
For the month of June Iris at Grace Alone is hosting Thankful Thursday.

Thankful Thursday

It has been awhile since I did a Thankful Thursday post but, I'm back at it because it is good to share our praises and things we are so thankful for. Be sure to visit spiritually unequal marriage for more Thankful Thursdays. This week has been quite the week so far. I have been sick since last Thursday. Although I am much better now. The weather has been cold and rainy every day and it seems it has been one obstacle after another for DH and I. We have and will get through these obstacles as we always do. One of these obstacles was running out of propane gas yesterday. We both knew we were getting low but, with this crazy cold damp weather we still have had to run our furnace at times. DH was at work and this particular morning I hadn't heard the furnace run for quite some time. It was beginning to get a might chilly in the house. I smelled gas and realized the pilot lights had gone out on the stove. I called DH. It is what I feared...We had run out of gas. DH told me to shut off the gas outside on the tank. I did..so I thought...seeing how I never seen or looked under that little hood on the tank before. I called the gas company and they would have to make an emergency run which in turn would cost me another $150 more to have them come out that day or I could wait until next week. Sigh....My day was already getting worse by the minute. First rule of thumb..NEVER RUN OUT OF GAS on cold rainy days before a holiday! If this wasn't bad enough..a few hours later my Dad came over. As soon as I opened the door, he about fell over. The smell of gas was overwhelming. Having being congested some still from being sick I did not know it was that bad. Perhaps I was just used to the smell but, for whatever reason Dad said it was a wonder my dog and I wasn't on the floor unconscious. We opened windows, turned on the fan and we soon had the smell gone for the most part. Dad said I had went the wrong way and had turned the gas instead wide open. Rule number two..Please always know how and where to shut off your gas! It could mean life or death. I am thankful my father showed up at our house when he did. . I am thankful God watched over my little dog and I and that we were able to get some gas right away to keep our home warm and so we are able to cook our Easter dinner on Sunday. Speaking of Easter.. I thank God for the amazing gift that comes to us on Easter, and it is much better than that chocolate rabbit you plan to nibble the ears off of. Jesus death on the cross, his resurrection, and his ascension into heaven. God gave Jesus to die for our sins and he raised him to life so that we would be acceptable to God. HE loves us that much! Happy Easter everyone!

Thankful Thursday

I will be 53 years young tomorrow. While to some this doesn't seem old, to others including myself it is old. The older I get, the more I dislike birthdays. I would just rather well, forget them. So, this thankful Thursday I thought...what do I have to be thankful for? I am 53, my body aches all the time, I get fatigue rather easily and my mind isn't as sharp as it used to be, my hair is graying faster and faster. I could go on and on. This can make anyone grouchy. Everyone knows some grumpy old men and women. We make excuses for them by saying "he is just set in his ways" or "she has gotten old enough where she has earned the right to be a grouch". But, truth be told, people don't like to be around grouches very much regardless of how old you are. Okay, I may have earned my right to be a grouch, but, people like to be around happy people period! So, as I turn the big 53 tomorrow, I will put on a giant sized smile because I am thankful for my friends ,and family that I can celebrate life. That I can share memories with friends, especially with family. I can celebrate each day as a gift. Growing old gracefully, about enjoying the life I have and being thankful for the things I have for the moment, and striving always to improve upon those things that I can improve on. Isn't that what it is all about? Birthdays, may I have lots of them! Be sure to check out Lynn over at spiritually unequal marriage for more thankful Thursday's.

Thankful Thursday

Sometimes some weeks can be hard financially, especially in the winter when DH is layed off. It seems the money is barely there to get through the week. I could go to work if I chose to, but, my age and with my back problems now, it limits me to what I could do. DH has never pushed me or expected me to work. We may not be wealthy and never will be. I am content living the simple frugal life and so is DH. We have a roof over our head, food on the table, the bills always somehow get paid. God watches over us and takes care of us. Sometimes what we wish for doesn't fall in our laps, rather it falls somewhere nearby and we have to recognize it, stand up, and put in the time and work it takes to get it. I suppose it's because we wouldn't appreciate it as much if it came too easy. Everyday I am thankful what we are blessed with. God has been so good to us. Stop for a moment and think about all the things in your life that are worth being thankful for and check out Lynn at spiritually unequal marriage. She is hosting thankful Thursday this week, and be blessed.

Thankful Thursday

Today is Thankful Thursday. Lynn over at spiritually unequal marriage is hosting this month., so be sure to visit her and be blessed! As for myself I could write a book on all the things I am thankful for. But, for Today I will make this Thankful Thursday simple and brief. The Lord has been there for my DH and I every day, every moment. He continues to bless us. Today was no exception. My DH got hurt at work. For 7 years he has never had any accidents or major sickness. Today he happened to be working with his boss cutting a piece of steel with the sawall and in a split second his boss slipped and DH's middle finger on his right hand was literally split wide open. He was rushed to the doctor and had 13 stitches, 3 inside and 10 outside. I cannot thank the Lord enough for sparing DH's finger as it just missed his tendon .It was an accident that could of been alot worse than it was. I thank the Lord everyday for my husband. DH's blood pressure was a bit high and the doctor suggested to cease the smoking. I am thinking this is going to take alot of prayer.

I am also thankful I still have my father. The time I spend with him is amazing. We have had a couple of great times fishing on the pond this past week.

I am thankful for our garden and how well it's growing this year and the food it provides for our table, the full freezer of meat and the good stockpile on the shelves.

So what are you thankful for this week? Remember, In all things give thanks!

Thankful Thursday

Counting my blessings here today! This weekend our granddaughter Jasmyne will be spending all weekend here with her Mimi and Papa. Jasmyne is such a joy and delight. She is growing up so fast, and Reese's birthday is today and just turned 4 years old. Where does the time go? They say life is short..how true I find this to be. Anyways, I am thankful for all our grandchildren, each one with a unique personality and so much love to give. They are truly a blessing from God!

I am thankful for all the work we have been able to accomplish around our house, inside and out., work that needed to be done and wouldn't have gotten done if not been the money we were able to make from our yard sale a few weeks back. God blessed us once again!

The Lord has been so good to us this year and has blessed us in so many ways threefold! I cannot thank God enough. I hope these blessing will help me become a blessing to others. I believe blessings are given to us so that we might produce more fruit. Blessings are a sign of God's grace, that is his goodness to us even though we don't deserve it, not a reward for good works, and we need to use these blessings in the way God wants. I hope I can become a blessing to others.

What are you thankful for this week? Laurie is hosting thankful Thursday this month. Take time to stop by her blog and read what others are thankful for. Don't forget to count your blessings! Be blessed!

Thankful Thursday

This weeks Thankful Thursday is hosted by Lynn at spiritually unequal marrige. Wow! Another Thankful Thursday. Where does the time go? I swear the older I get the quicker time passes! This week I am thankful for so many things. We had an awesome yard sale last week which in turn helped us buy some river rock for our driveway. Yea! no more mud and dirt! I am also thankful it bought paint for our sheds. Our one shed was bare and had never had any paint or nothing. It was in dire need of a good coat of paint not only to look good but to keep the wood from rotting. I painted the little shed today and what a difference a good coat of paint did. My eyes are going to have to get used to this! We also got some paint to paint the inside of the house. The last time we painted was in 2005. Its not real bad but, it could use it. We have that thing if you take a picture down off the wall you can see the outline. No problem unless you hang something in its place and it doesn't cover the outline. Oops! It bugs me! I am also thankful for my health. I am 52 years young, Now I admit I am no spring chicken but, I don't do too bad. I am trying to eat right and exercise, and get plenty of rest and hope to ward off any big health issues like heart problems, diabetes and so forth. Oh, and I am so very thankful and most thankful and blessed to have such a great husband and family. DH is very good to me and the past couple of years I have never been as close to my father as I am now. I cherish the time I spend with him drinking coffee and talking. It is something I will always remember. It is good! So what are you thankful for this week?

Thankful Thursday

This month Lynn at spiritually unequal marriage is hosting thankful Thursday. It's been a wonderful week. This thankful Thursday I am thankful for many things.

1. Weight loss, I have lost 20 lbs now and I feel so much better. Even my skin looks better. I am so thankful for the will power and for the wake up call this past winter to motivate me to lose the weight.

2. For the most part, warm sunny skies and pleasant weather. Who doesn't love spring?

3. For old friends and new connections through facebook. I found an old friend from Junior high school. When she moved away,we used to write to each other for years. We now only exchange Christmas cards but, it was cool we connected on facebook and now we keep in touch more often.

4. I am thankful things are looking up for my son. He finally got a job. The same place DH works. It has been heartbreaking seeing him so depressed. He now seems so much happier.

5. My DH who indulges me, and who has also made me a better caring and giving person. I have had several people tell me this.

What are you thankful for this week?

Thankful Thursday

It's Thankful Thursday and hosting this month is Laurie @ women taking a stand. It's a glorious day! Here in Northern Indiana we have had some beautiful spring days and I have been taking advantage of them, which is why I am a little behind on my posting today. I have been walking some most every day trying to build strength and endurance after being laid up for 2 months. It is great exercise. I have noticed the flowers are poking there little heads up out of the ground and it is so nice to be able to open a few windows during the day and smell the spring air as it fills the house after a long winter. Indeed, I have so much to be thankful for this year. I am enjoying the car that was given to DH and I from DH's bosses. We have 2 dependable vehicles now and one less worry. God is so good and I am filled with love and gratitude for my life and all the blessings that fill it. Can I say more?

Thankful Thursday

The sun is shining through the windows....beautiful day! My walking speed may not be great at the moment but, I am ever so thankful to be able to walk to my friend Becky's house down the road yesterday and today, The exercise has felt wonderful and I enjoyed visiting with my best friend.
Dieting can be so hard I find it is much easier to put on than take off. I am thankful for not giving up, for that feeling of accomplishment every day, and for the healing that is taking place in my body by nourishing it with healthy food and exercise.
After driving vehicles that were just plain junk,I am thankful for having a car and truck that runs so nice and is in such nice shape and it feels sooooo......good!
With all that said....I am thankful for a faithful God who's always beside me!

Thankful Thursday

It is Thankful Thursday and I am thankful it is Thursday! This has been quite a tiring week. There has been so many times I have felt the need to go back to bed in the mornings as I can hardly stay awake and function. I know if I do go back to bed I am even more stiff and sore so, instead I have been trying to stay busy. I suppose its just cabin fever. With my housework behind, staying on top of my housework has been a challenge in itself.and with my email jammed with spam and mailbox full, I am trying to step into the normal life again. I am hoping this muscle injury will begin to fully heal soon. But for now I am very thankful that my hubby has been able to help out as God has been keeping him very busy lately. DH doesn't seem to mind though. As snowstorms seem to hammer the east coast, I am thankful for the mere 9 inches or so we have on the ground. I've never been much of a fan of winter weather. However, if we would get snowed in for awhile I am thankful our freezer and pantry is full. And, the number one thing I am thankful for is.....drum roll please........I am very thankful to be able to resist the bag of peanut butter m&ms sitting in front of me by this computer left there by my DH who is NOT on a healthy diet! Thank you Lord from refraining to partake from these . Every day can be a struggle but, I can take those struggles now as a blessing. What are you thankful for today? Even when things are going badly there are still so many things to be thankful for. Some big some small. Check out Iris at Grace alone for more Thankful Thursday. You will be blessed!

Thankful Thursday

Today is Thankful Thursday and I am incredibly thankful for everything that has happened the last few weeks. The bible says Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything, Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. Philippians 4:6 (NLT) Yes, I started 2010 off on the wrong foot with pinkeye and then tearing a muscle in my lower back/hip. But, hey, I have Jesus, good friends and family. God said slow down and if this was the only way I would listen well, so be it. It has for me a very painful and scary month. I refuse to sit and feel sorry for myself. I am so much better now. All of your prayers helped. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Although I have recovered for the most part, I still need help in the morning to get dressed. DH has been there for me every day taking care of me and the house. I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful caring husband. I am thankful for being able to get out this morning. Yay! After a month of staying in the house, sitting, not being able to move much, I managed to get out, get my hair done and eyebrows waxed. It felt wonderful! My hairdresser also rubbed the back of my neck with lavender oil. This felt amazing! Between the smell of the lavender oil and the massage on my neck, when I got home I literally fell asleep in the chair. I was so relaxed. I am thankful for the sun that has been peeping in and out so far today. There is nothing like a bit of sunshine on a very cold snowy day to boost the spirit. I am ready for spring. How about you? I am thankful for my father. He went in for surgery on his back yesterday for a spur and now they say he may have had a heart attack as he had to go off his heart meds a few days before his back surgery so his heart is now a concern. Would you please pray for my father? I know at times I tend to worry more often than I should, but I have seen lately when I give my concerns and worries right to God, he gives me peace and my eyes are open to what I should be thankful for and that is a wonderful feeling! Thankful Thursday

Giving to others in need will help you realize that you might have more to be thankful for than you think. Yesterday my Dad and I talked about what we could do to help my son who is living alone, no job, no vehicle ( his truck doesn't run and he doesn't have money to fix it) no food, no nothing really. I worry everyday about him alot. He never asks for help. I know depression when I see it as I was in depression once upon a time when I was with my first husband. I worry about his faith and have talked to him about our savior Jesus Christ and that God loves and cares about him, but my son feels alot of pain right now with no job, no money, and with a broken down truck, no way to find or get to a job. Does his father help him? not to my knowledge. With winter upon us, it doesn't help with the worries. I pray everyday for him as any mother would do. Okay, so everyone knows that Christmas is supposed to be about giving and not receiving., so, my Dad went through his pantry and freezer, my sister found a few items, my mom threw in some extras and hubby and I ourselves went through our pantry and freezer. We all gave a little bit of what we had extra of. We ended up with a very large box of food. We dropped off the box of food at my sons house today. I want to tell you how awesome this felt. I hugged my son and told him I loved him and with tears in my sons eyes he took the food with such gratefulness and I imagine after we left he had to have been crying because, I know I did. So, this Thankful Thursday I am thankful for my son I am so ever thankful that even though we struggle ourselves especially at this time of year, that I was able to share some food from my stockpile. I am thankful I have the ability through couponing, sales and sorts that I can achieve this stockpile. I am thankful that I have such a loving and caring husband who treats me with so much love.and who loves my children as his own. I don't have to worry about sinking into depression ever again. I am thankful for my heavenly father who loves me and I love him. For my sister, my dad, my mom and the contribution of their own stockpile. So, is anyone out there doing something special for someone in need lately? For me, this Thankful Thursday I will not forget. More than receiving gifts, the true meaning of Christmas is in sharing. It matters neither the grandeur nor the price tag of what you give for it's the thought that counts, that matters.

Thankful Thursday

These are difficult times for many people and on this Thanksgiving, for some, it may be difficult to find a reason to be thankful. For some of us there has been job loss, some are facing foreclosure on their homes for which they have worked and sacrificed, Some families just struggle to stay warm and fed. For some people they have seen their retirement savings diminish in the face of the meltdown on wall street. On this Thanksgiving coming up and Thankful Thursday I want to give thanks for faith, that faith, still despite the hard times sees us through those tough times. This Thanksgiving as you gather with family and friends, take time out to reflect, giving thanks for all things, no matter how small or trivial they may seem. Your friends, family, health, jobs, if we just look closely we can all find a reason to be thankful. i believe being thankful reminds me of whats important, for me its hard to complain about the little things, when I give thanks that our children and grandchildren are alive and healthy. It's hard to get stressed out over paying bills when I am grateful there is a roof over my head. I am grateful my hubby and I have challenges. Life isn't boring. I am grateful we learn from these challenges and am thankful they make me a stronger person and builds character. I am trying to be grateful for our car.It may be rusting out, we cannot open the door on the drivers side because the door handle fell off, it doesn't have an exhaust system or muffler because that fell off awhile back also. It has had several brake problems. I have to be thankful it gets us from point A to point B. We don't have the finances for a better car at the time But, I know some people who don't even have transportation. What are you giving thanks for this year? Head on over to Grace Alone Share your thoughts, leave your link.

Thankful Thursday

This popular meme, thankful Thursday, is one of my favorites. This meme is really good for me when you go through many trials and challenges. Some days are easier than others to count our blessings. There is seven things I am thankful for today.....

1.God. God is at the top of my list to be thankful for. I am so thankful for him as God is very important in my life. Without God life is pretty meaningless.

2. Friends. What would life be without friends? very lonely and boring. As humans we enjoy the company of each other and sense of belonging. So I am thankful for my friends.

3. Shelter. I am very thankful to have a home, Many do not. Imagine trying to survive without a home. A place that keeps us cool in the summer and warm in the winter. A place that keeps us dry and safe. That is a blessing.

4. Love. The love of my husband, parents, sister, children, grandchildren, friends, my dog. For the love I receive and the love I give. I am thankful for love.

5. Having all I need. I do not need fancy cars, lots of money or designer items. I am blessed with having what I need. That is enough for me.

6. Peace. I am at peace with myself and with all. I have peace with God my savior." For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" John 3:16. I treasure peace in my home and my surroundings daily. It's a comfort and a blessing.

7. Health Good health is a reason to be thankful. I know so many others that are far worse off health wise.

What are you thankful for?

Thankful Thursday

Welcome to another blessed thankful Thursday. Today I am thankful my dad is going to be alright. He has been sick and I was very worried about him. Those that know me, know I am close to my dad and closer to him that I have been in years. I am thankful for the opportunity of getting to know him as a person over these past years and try to appreciate every moment I spend with him now. Hubby and I enjoy his company when he comes over for coffee as well as fishing with him off the pontoon. It is a relationship, I have wanted for years but never had like I have had the last year or so .My relationship with him is the best it has been. He was supposed to come for coffee the other morning but, never showed up. I later found out that morning he was very sick in bed. First thing I thought was he had the dreaded H1N1 virus or maybe the swine flu or just something terrible Many dreaded thoughts raced in my head. I know , that probably sounds silly. Heck, when you are up there in years like him it is hard to fight something as simple as the flu or any virus for that matter. He went to the doctor this morning and he has an inner ear infection. Now, though this is not good, it is good it is not the flu or something along that line. The doctor gave him medicine and I am confident he will get better now. Hubby and I are looking forward to his recovery and another morning with coffee and fellowship. Thank you Lord for another week of faithfulness!

Thankful Thursday- friends

Welcome all to another addition of Thankful Thursday! At this moment I am thankful for many things in my life. The Lord has blessed us greatly this week! My hubby was given 2 large bags of name brand, nice immaculate clothes from the neighbor across the road who him and his wife also happens to be a good friend of ours. This is such a blessing as DH's clothes are much to be desired and most are rags and so he was in real need for new ones. Today I am thankful for wonderful friends. I was just thinking what it means to be a real friend. Real friends don't take advantage of others kindness. Good friends do not need verbal communication to tell something to each other. They can perfectly understand each others thoughts and can respond accordingly. Treat her or him like you wished to be treated and see yourself in your friend. We should listen what our friends are telling and should help them overcome their problems and try to assist them in each and every situation. A friend is one who believes in you when you have ceased to believe in yourself. Friendship is precious. Today, I thank God he has given my hubby and I some really great friends and the wonderful moments and friendship with each and every one of them all carefully planned by God. So, there you have it. Now, it's your turn. Lets hear what you are thankful for.

Thankful Thursday

Hello, and Welcome to another Thankful Thursday. and thanks for stopping by! When I think of my life and the blessings I have, I really have so much to be thankful for. I am thankful for the many friends Hubby and I have and for the few friends that I am really close to. I'm thankful always thankful for my other half, my husband and best friend, for his love, friendship, support, encouragement and tender touch. I am thankful I can lean on Jesus and trust him in all situations. It is so comforting to know he is with us ALWAYS! For God's word and wisdom for God's provisions. I am thankful we have enough and are making ends meet. He has provided us with blessings upon blessings and continues to provide for our daily needs. All things are possible with God.

Thankful Thursday

I just love Thankful Thursday! I have so many things to thankful for this week.Being thankful opens us up to receiving all kinds of wonderful blessings. I feel really blessed. As you know my best and dear friend Becky has come back from Indianapolis to stay for good. She is such a blessing to me because she is a good christian lady who is a dear friend that I can go to her for anything. She listens and will pray with me, She never judges, and always has an open mind. I am so very thankful she is back. I have been helping her get her house back to the way it was, as, her kids left it a mess! She has so much work to do to get it back to the way it was. I am glad I can help her. Her friendship is everything to me. Speaking of friendship, I am thankful for the friendship I have with my Sister Deb, and the good times we have. We had a good time of fellowship last Sunday For the relationship with my Dad, The many times we have coffee together and chat. I love that and look forward to it. Family is so important. I am thankful the Lord has blessed me with a wonderful husband who loves me unconditionally. I have never been as happy as I have with him. I am thankful for all the veggies I have grown in my garden and that I have had some to share with others who might not or can't have a garden. I love to give, our neighbors told my husband I am such a giving lady. I will take that as a compliment.
Remember being grateful today leads to abundance tomorrow! See Iris at http://www.eph2810.com/ She is hosting Thankful Thursday this week. Visit some of the other Thankful blogs. You will be Blessed!

Thankful Thursday

This week has been a very tiring and challenging week for me! Not only have I been sick all week and haven't felt like doing much of nothing let alone, play on my computer which I absolutely love to do .But our brake line broke on our only car, It is old and tired but, gets us from point A to point B. thats what really matters and the veggies in the garden are all coming on so fast at the same time. But, I'm not complaining, I am Thankful for these challenges, I know I can depend on God to get me through them. All I need to do is trust him. I will get to feeling better.I know its just a stupid cold or sinus thing going on. God protected us when the brake line broke. It was good Hubby was driving at the time and that with Gods help Hubby with his knowledge will be able to fix it. I am also thankful my husband has good employers that will let him drive the company vehicle when things like this happen. Yes, I am very happy we have a garden that is producing lots of fresh veggies. I have plenty for fresh eating, canning and freezing ect. I even have enough to share with others who otherwise can't or don't have a garden. That makes me feel good. God has always been there for us. God never fails.
