Another yard sale over

Another yard sale of mine is over and I am so ever thankful! For now, I am not sure when I will have the third one or if I will. DH and I are thinking of setting up at some of the local flea markets maybe, possibly, a table or two of stuff but, that is a big if at the moment. Flea markets are an excellent option for those with alot of stuff to get rid of or if you live in an area with low traffic, primarily non-residential, live in an apartment or other residence that doesn't allow yard sales .You are guaranteed more customers at a flea market than at a yard sale even if your neighborhood is great for your yard sales. Most people come to find bargains but, they expect to pay more than at a yard sale.Anyways I am glad this sale is over for now. Yard sales are alot of work especially when they are as big as mine are. but, I've had alot of fun and they have been profitable for DH and I. This time when we cleaned up I got rid of at least 2/3 of the clothes and 1/2 of all the other junk. My son took it all but the clothes which I donated them. He hopes to run a yard sale of his own for some extra money. Personally, I am just so tired of dealing with all this stuff! It may sound crazy, but all this stuff just stresses me out! By having too much stuff laying around, it takes time and effort to maintain it and takes my attention away from other things I would rather be focusing on. It wastes my time because when I have all this clutter around i have to search for things I have but can't find quickly or not at all. Okay...In short I've tried more. It's awful. I want less, and I want it now!

A Fantastic Yard Sale and Pics

My yard sale is over for now. Maybe in a couple of weeks I will have another but, not right away. I am pooped! It was a fantastic sale. Again we were blessed. The weather except for Saturday was beautiful and the people came in mobs steady all day on Thursday. Friday was just a steady flow of people all day. Time went soooo......fast. It was crazy for awhile but there was 3 of us and it all worked out great. Saturday it was rainy all day. The stuff was getting wet, but the people still kept on coming. We still have alot of stuff but we sure made a good dent. As I promised, I am a little late but, I am posting these pictures of my sale. See? I told you it was huge! It took almost all my yard and I had so much alot of stuff had to stay in tubs as I didn't have room. We made it work though. Most everyone that came said "gee, you have alot of stuff" What do you think?

Clearing out the cluttter!

Whew! I can tell already this week is going to go fast. However, it seems, every week goes fast for me anymore. Today was a summer like day and I am loving it! There is much yard work to be done but instead I am busy getting more of my yard sale stuff around. There is still so much sorting and pricing to be done. Since I haven't been able to get in our shed yet because of bookcases and a roll top desk in the way, I worked on my storage room. I cannot believe how much I have accumulated this past year. It is no wonder I were having some difficulty finding stuff. I am not a hoarder by any means, but it sorta looks like it at the moment. It is only going to get worse if I don't do some serious liquidation! Stuff like toothpaste ect. will expire and I don't want that to happen. I almost got that room done and will work on my bedroom next. By then DH will have the furniture out of the shed so I can work on those tubs. My neighbor and best friend will be helping me. I am so thankful for all her help because this is one sale that is way too much for one person to handle. Because of all the work yet, I have decided to move my sale on the 22, 23, and 24. I hope and pray the weather will be kind to us.

busy, busy, busy

I am going to make this posting short tonight. Hope everyone had a good week. It has been busy, busy, busy around here all week and I feel it also. I now have plenty of tomatoes and tomato juice and I hope a little tomato sauce for the winter but, we will see. After this week I am feeling a bit on the lazy side. The sale is not going too well but, that is life. The weather has been against us all the way. But, that is okay I am not going to sweat over it. The ad was supposed to be in the paper and it never got in. That little incident has not pleased me none in the least again, it's no big deal. It is my last sale of the year and as always, for me, the first time in the spring is the best time for a sale. After a long winter, most people are starving for a good yard sale. I know that is for me. I will be donating most stuff that is left. I figure I have all winter to collect ....persay...more stuff. Besides, then I don't have to store it, which has always been an issue with only so much storage space. While Hubby has been helping run the sale, Becky and I have been sorting coupons. She enjoys organizing and for me I find it tedious work so, I am very thankful for the help she has given me. Next week? Well, looking just as busy! While some of the chaos will disappear. I'm left with a messy house and frazzled set of nerves. Hee- Hee.... Ah, life.

Our garage sale adventure

I have to say this has been a long tiring day today. We got up at 6:00 am this morning, grabbed a bite of breakfast and coffee and were on our way for a day of garage saleing. Just the hubby and I spending time with each other. We found a few treasures we thought we couldn't live without like a sauder bookcase , new, still in the pkg for $15.00. I will put this in my little storage room to use for some of my extra stockpile. We also found the hubby some neat t-shirts with fish and fishing logos on it for a mere 50 cents. I found a really cool pair of walking shoes for $1.00 they are soooooo comfortable! There was alot of little of this and that. The best purchase hubby bought for us was a brand new still in box 12x20 canopy to use for my yard sales for $50.00 My dad has one he has had for years that he used to park his car under. I cannot stress how nice this will be as whenever i decide to have a sale, it likes to rain UGH! But, this will be nice for shade also. For the most part it was nice all day today. Later this afternoon soon gave way to rain and for the most part put a damper on the sales around town. Most people just started closing up. One place we went to just put everything out at the curb and said it was all free. Geesh.....people can be like vulchers when it comes to something like this! You should have seen all the people grabbing this and that and getting soaked in the rain. It didn't seem to bother them a bit ! Yea, I guess I am one of them. We soon had our little car filled as much as we could fill it and decided it was time to head home. Another day of garage saleling here and gone.

A yard sale success

Its finally over! The yard sale was a success in spite of the weather that were against us. Thursday was supposed to have been opening day and I had to close it up because of the rain. I hated to do this but I opened up today later today for a couple of hours. As I figured, we didn't have much people but that is okay because we made $1,438.00 Whoo-Hoo! We have a guy interested in the complete dock we have and that should put us at $1,838.00 if it sells at our price. I think that is not too shabby money making for a couple of days. We all worked very hard at this sale including my sister and son and without them I do not know what I would of done. So thank you Sheila and Daniel from the bottom of my heart! Hubby had to work Saturday and today so he couldn't be here to help even though he planned on it. My skin now has some color to it now, I burned my scalp on top of my head, and I ache through and through! I am really going to appreciate this new computer! I believe things will get back to normal now after I recuperate!

I Am Still Here!

I am still here! Sorry, You are still stuck with me! Hee- Hee! I have been busy, busy, busy This weekend was birthday party's, sorting and cleaning and pricing for my yard sale. My hubby's job is cleaning the shed and mine was inside the house. My son came over tonight and and helped set up a very large tent. Yes, my sale is going to be a biggie! hubby bought 2 more tables at another yard sale for $5.00 each. We are going to need the tables that's for sure. This is always so much work for me since we have no garage. But, somehow I enjoy it. I haven't figured it out yet. So... pray for good weather. This yard sale means alot to me this time. I can hear my new computer calling out to me! Our grandson turned 1 years old Saturday and little Jocelyne has turned 3. They just grow up so fast. Please bear with me this week. Next week should be back to normal again.

Indian Winter??

Where is the warmer weather? When will spring start and decide to stay around?? Is this what we call an Indian winter? After all, they call Indian summer an unseasonably warm and sunny patch of weather during Autumn when the temperatures have cooled down so.....Could it be the opposite-"Indian Winter"- a period of unseasonably chilly weather during Spring?!! April has been crazy this year. I am ready to kiss my winter jacket and gloves goodbye for good. Today as I sort through and get things around for my yard sale this year, any glimpse or hope of having this sale soon is very iffy. I don't have a garage so for me, its the routine of dragging everything outside, setting up a huge tent and tables outside. The weather has to cooperate all week as I setup for the sale and days of the sale. Most importantly it has to be half ways warm outside. I know I don't want to sit outside all day in cold damp temperatures. Perhaps, May will be a bit kinder to us. I can only hope. Anxious for my yard sale? No, not me!

My yard sale and making a profit

I have been working all winter getting stuff for my yard sale in the spring. A typical yard sale at my house brings in about $100-$150 per day. Not bad really, considering I never advertise and live in a rural area. I feel advertising in our local paper is a bit pricey. This year however I am hoping to bring those $$ up. My primary goal with having my yard sale is to get rid of some clutter, but, the extra cash for my new computer will be nice too. This year I decided to do something different. Most of what I make will simply be recouping a small portion of money already spent. I expect to make a true profit on some of the things I'm selling. I am trying to make money by shopping for myself at yard sales. If you go to yard sales regularly, you will soon get a feel for how people in your area price certain things. Buy things that are under priced, whether you use them or not; take good care of them and sell them at your future sale for a price typical of your area. Look for deals throughout the year. Because of coupons, rebates, and store clearances, I buy a lot of personal hygiene products and other small items that are free or cheap. By the time yard sale season rolls around, my storage closets are over-flowing. I keep what I expect to use the next year, and sell the rest for about half of the retail value. Sell things whose value has appreciated since you bought them. Although I don't have much in antiques (most of mine are heirlooms) I am always keeping my eye out for such things. Although I haven't myself in a while, going to auctions and buying several lots of items, and then reselling what you don't want in those lots is yet another excellent way to make a profit. I look for deals throughout the year and have fun bargain hunting and whether I make $10 or $1000 at my yard sales, It is a profitable and fun experience.
