Do your homework

Phew! I have finally been able to get my Internet up to do my posting. Yes, I know, I am constantly apologising to you guys why I haven't made any postings or why I am late posting.I hate it I really do. I don't want to have to apologise all the time. I am trying hard to post at least 3 times a week if I can't post everyday. It is my fault that I did not do my homework. You see it is like this....After an hour of trying to just get my e-mail up last night. I finally just gave up in tears. What I thought was going to be a good thing turned out to be worse. I was so upset about our wild blue Internet it was amazing I could even calm down enough to sleep. I feel cheated and robbed. When I first got wild blue ( broadband) it was last month on the second. For 2 weeks I had no problem. It was nice to have Internet that even though wasn't "fast" per say, it was at least faster than ole' dial up. After about 2 days according to wild blue I had used over half of my allotted bandwidth already. You see...this has me wondering, as the most I did on my computer for the first few days was read, delete e-mails, did a few surveys. I was playing catch-up. Caution! Do not exceed your bandwidth! If you do, you will have slower than dial up speed for as many days as it takes to fall below 70% of your allotted cap. How much pipe would be recovered by simply staying off line for 24 hours? the answer? not much! They just turn down your speed until you're out of FAP violation, but what they don't say is that slowed down speed is so slow that when combined with the interest lag of satellite access, and the heavy traffic on their system, it makes your satellite access completely useless while in a FAP violation period! The bottom line is you are very limited as to what you can do. The basic plan was sold to me as being able to surf the net, read e-mails Do my surveys, blog, play farmville ( which I have discontinued...and another story) It was disclosed there are thresh holds, but it is not explained well how fast those thresholds can be met and that there is a penalty when you can surpass them. Wild blue requires a 2 year contract and will impose a $15/month early termination fee if you break it. The way I have been feeling lately, that $15/month doesn't look bad! Sometimes your only option is poor and nothing if you happen to be in a rural area that is not serviced by DSL or cable, your options are pretty limited. With wild Blue you have the option of 3 packages the value or basic/512 kbps (this is what I have) at $49.95/month, The select /1kbps at $69.95/mo or the pro/ 1.5 kbps at $79.95/mo all are very expensive! Trust me, Just be sure to do your research before choosing their services or any service. It may not really be for you. Wild blue is truly "out in space" If you are into self torture you may want to try them out! I have learned a valuable lesson.

Another yard sale over

Another yard sale of mine is over and I am so ever thankful! For now, I am not sure when I will have the third one or if I will. DH and I are thinking of setting up at some of the local flea markets maybe, possibly, a table or two of stuff but, that is a big if at the moment. Flea markets are an excellent option for those with alot of stuff to get rid of or if you live in an area with low traffic, primarily non-residential, live in an apartment or other residence that doesn't allow yard sales .You are guaranteed more customers at a flea market than at a yard sale even if your neighborhood is great for your yard sales. Most people come to find bargains but, they expect to pay more than at a yard sale.Anyways I am glad this sale is over for now. Yard sales are alot of work especially when they are as big as mine are. but, I've had alot of fun and they have been profitable for DH and I. This time when we cleaned up I got rid of at least 2/3 of the clothes and 1/2 of all the other junk. My son took it all but the clothes which I donated them. He hopes to run a yard sale of his own for some extra money. Personally, I am just so tired of dealing with all this stuff! It may sound crazy, but all this stuff just stresses me out! By having too much stuff laying around, it takes time and effort to maintain it and takes my attention away from other things I would rather be focusing on. It wastes my time because when I have all this clutter around i have to search for things I have but can't find quickly or not at all. Okay...In short I've tried more. It's awful. I want less, and I want it now!

It's just one of those days

Today was a very busy day as the weather has been so warm and nice and I was in the spring cleaning mode. The laundry was piling up and what I thought was going to be this productive day was definitely not. My first load of laundry was a nightmare as the washer decided to take a dump. Here I was with a full load of jeans and t-shirts that was soaking wet and I couldn't get the water out of the washer. I took them out wringing them out the best I could and hauled them to my best friend and neighbor who graciously let me use her washing machine and dryer. She also had me do all my laundry there so it would be done. She is such a kind woman. I tryed to work cleaning my house in between going back and forth to her house doing my laundry. Then my father showed up for coffee, thats okay because I love seeing my dad. Then my son showed up and that just about halted anymore cleaning. My DH said our washing machine was shot and if were a belt that broke he would've fixed it. So I guess we were going to have to get a new one. Ugh! I hate the thought spending the money right now but, hey, I will not go to the laundry mat! Our washing machine was a good little machine I bought it at a yard sale for $50 back in 2003, I would say we got our moneys worth out of it. So.... off we go to get a new washer and dryer and as I thought the salesman tries to sell us the more expensive high efficiency model. I don't need anything fancy i just need something that will wash our clothes. We found a nice set and it will be delivered Friday. Yep, It's just one of those days!

I have pink eye!!!

I woke up this morning with what it seems is pink eye! You know when your eye is blood red and seeps and crusty. Ugh! I am very familiar with this sort of thing because almost all my adult life , every time I turn around I have pink eye. Then I would go to the doctor because I had insurance. Once I had to go to an eye specialist because it would keep reoccurring and wouldn't go away. But, I haven't had pink eye for over 6 years until now! I do not have insurance because we can't afford any. DH works for a small company and they do not offer any sort of thing. Going to the doctor at the moment will kill us financially at the time. I believe this is viral and will just have to run its course I hope. If not, or worsens then I will have to see a doctor. I just can't believe this has happened as I have been so careful about washing my hands all the time and even using a hand sanitizer. I carry a small one in my purse and take it everywhere I go. I haven't worn any makeup for weeks and do not wear contacts. This is just crazy! But, I have had alot of sinus problems last week which I thought I was coming down with a cold or something. I thought I was getting better. Has anyone out there had pink eye? Did you have to go to the doctor? Looks as if I am starting the new year with a bang! or I could say I am ending the old.

Bad Dog!

I love my dog I really do, all 4 little lbs of her, but sometimes she just tries my paintence. Our dog has an attitude I mean a really big attitude! She is a yorkie shit-zu and has this thing about any of us leaving her alone You might call it seperation anxiety. We have tried a small crate and when she learned how to open it to escape we started putting a padlock on it. But that got to be a pain. I figured she would just have to get over her little attitude. She has gotten over it for the most part but, mini blinds she must hate because we have gone through at least 5 or 6 of them the past year or so. Now, if I didn't like the looks of them so well on my windows, and did such a fine job of sheilding the sun in the summer, I would probably just do the whole curtain thing. Hubby and I went to my parents yesterday to drop off their gifts. Usually I always pull up our mini blinds before I ever leave the house. I figure this is easier in case the little fur ball gets any ideas. Yesterday was one of those days I forgot. oops! When we got home we got an early Christmas present! My mini blinds had been annihilated! There were mini blind pieces chewed into on all over the floor and the mini blind had a real nice chewed up opening! Bad dog! Now, if I hadn't of been so mad I would of taken a picture but, I was fuming big time and all I could think of was to take the hideous thing down and pick up the mess. Has anyone else had this happen to them? If any of you out there has had this problem, you probably already know it's good to have a backup mini blind to hang until you can get a new one., unless you want an ugly bare window staring at you in the face. We found our old one, which is a bit dusty and tiny piece chewed into from one another time. It is hung up in the destroyed blinds place. This will have to do until we can get another new blind. As for Sassafrass, she got a scolding of her life and didn't receive any more pup r roni doggie treats for the day. I will have to be a little more better at remembering to raise the blinds up before I leave the house.

Let it snow!!

Those needing winter weather to help them get into the Christmas mood need wait no longer. Here in northern Indiana it's snowing. UGH! Some of the reasons I don't like winter is directly related to the cold. I can't stand how my lips and hands get chapped. I use so much lotion and chap stick this time of year, or scraping frost or ice off the car windows or having to wait for the car to get warm enough for the heat to work. Driving on snow covered roads can almost give me ulcers. It's quite simple, I am not fond of winter. For hubby and I winter is a tough time of year. I would just love to do what the bears do and hibernate until Spring. But, I can't, so I must deal with it. I will embrace the winter season and let my inner child have some fun maybe perhaps I can take the stress out of the winter season this year. I can think like a child. Remember making snow angels when you were a kid? One year my hubby made a stellar snowman. The grand kids called it Mimi. Papa makes a Mimi every year now for the kiddos. I can feed the birds. One of our greatest joys is our bird feeding stations in our backyard. It is right outside the dining room and living room windows. I love watching the many birds who come to eat. The joyful little calls really lift me up and make me happy and the gorgeous red cardinals or blue jay against the white snow...Sublime! The lively spot of color in an otherwise dreary landscape is wonderful. Put out a bird feeder near a window where you can watch the birds. You will be amazed at how much they perk you up. I can ice fish with the hubby I know, seems a bit odd for someone who hates the cold and snow as much as I do but, if you are catching fish one right after another like the hubby and I did one winter, you kind of forget all about the freezing cold until you have to pee and there is no where to go and it means if you do find a place , you have to take off everything just about, just to go, Brrrr! I'm guessing ice fishing is not a woman thing. But, it is so rewarding to catch more fish than the darling husband of mine. So despite the cold and snow winter weather has to offer. I say, Let it snow!

I want him!

I want him! My friend and neighbor has a new litter of kittens at her house. Isn't he sooo cute? All kittens are adorable and it can be tempting to take one home without thinking of the consequences. There is the litter box thing eew! no room to put one in this little house. There is the trip to the vet for vaccinations and worming. To prevent unwanted kitties there is neutering. Do I want to start buying cat food again? We have already lost 3 kitties sniff...sniff... and our small yard looks like a pet cemetary already. Hmmm...no two ways about it, puppies and kittens are adorable. Its easy to be transfixed by the tiny paws and tiny noses and big bellies galloping around. For now I think I will just enjoy him at Beckys house.

Seasonal Allergies

It's about that time of year when many of us with seasonal allergies are starting to grumble. One of those many is me. My allergies are starting to flair up for me again. It's a seasonal thing starting in August right through the first frost. Although I really don't like to grumble but, allergies can make you feel miserable and moody. Right now I'm not too bad, like none of that sinus nasal thing yet. except for some sneezing and the last few days my eyes have felt like sandpaper 100% of the time and are extremely itchy. I am never without my trusty bottle of visine. Also for me it is hard to avoid pollen exposure altogether as I enjoy the outdoors this time of year way too much. Sometimes coping with my allergies can be difficult. It sometimes effects my sleep and my energy levels. My eyes feel tired all the time. There is some ways I deal with these symptoms or should I say try to.

1. I minimise early morning activity outside as between 5-10 am is when the pollen count is the highest.

2.I stay indoors when the pollen count is reported high or on windy days when the pollen is present in higher amounts.

3.I avoid mowing the lawn and fresh cut grass

4. I keep windows closed and if needed use the air conditioning ( I hate this one as this isn't very frugal on the electric bill )

5.I machine dry bedding and clothing because pollen can collect on laundry if it is hung outside ( this is another hate on the list and not very frugal. I love hanging my clothes outside )

6. I bathe at night to rid myself of all pollen on me before going to bed. This helps me to sleep better.

They say if something irritates you, avoid it, that's the motto that allergy sufferers must adopt. I can't avoid it all but I try my best.

Ranting on.....

Pooh! Here in Northeast Indiana winter won't give up! I put away my winter coats last week in favor for a lighter weight springy jacket. I guess it was too soon. The rain here will change into the dreaded word yes, SNOW, overnight, blustery conditions and possible accumulation. High in the low 30's, POOH! nothing like that to put you in a bad mood. Oh yes, and to top it off I just found out (hubby kept it a secret because he knew I would be upset) that he got $50.00 stolen out of his wallet at work yesterday. UGH! My husband had his wallet hidden in his lunch cooler and the person had to have been looking and I mean really looking. Johns boss is investigating the matter. This isn't the first time hubby has had his money stolen neither. Last year, someone stole his entire wallet. That meant getting a new social security card, new wallet, ect... I don't care who you are...Stealing is wrong!!! My husband is one of those guys that would take his shirt off his back to help others. He is trusting and kind. Somehow, I don't know why he always gets attacked. I hope they get the culprit and he gets his just desserts!!!!!! Okay, I feel better now!!!!!
